NOTE: it is a pre-requisite of the Records Disposal training course to have completed a Keyword Classification training course.
At IRIS, we understand that Trainees who have not undertaken Keyword Classification training do not always grasp the fundamentals of the Records Disposal process as well as those who have undertaken Keyword Classification training.
Classification is how files and folders are titled and therefore provide context to records. Classification dovetails directly with any Retention and Disposal Schedule or Authority used, therefore understanding how Classification is applied also enables Trainees to better apply a Retention and Disposal Schedule or Authority.
You have several options for undertaking Keyword Classification training before attending the Records Disposal training:
Having previously attended IRIS Keyword Classification training, either In Person or Online
Confirming that you have previously attended another Training Provider’s Keyword Classification training course
Undertake the IRIS In Person Keyword Classification training or the IRIS Online Keyword Classification training
For Online Training, go to theIRIS Online Learningpage to choose between two online Keyword Classification Courses provided by IRIS – one is specifically for Local Government and the other is for all organisations except Local Government. This distinction is unnecessary for the In Person Keyword Classification training. For In Person training, choose from the two options below.
Please ensure that you select the ‘Training Package’ button below if you have not previously completed a Keyword Classification training course. Otherwise, please select the ‘Proceed to Records Disposal’ button.
